In Passport to Digital Citizenship, author Mike Ribble discusses the norms of appropriate behavior with regards to technology use and introduce nine Elements of Digital Citizenship.

During our second Salon, we will focuson the Nine Elements of Digital Citizenship identified in the article and discuss how well these norms represent the Net-Generation (those born after 1980, they have access to technology and they have the skills to use it), a population who consistently demonstrates a different way of looking at their world, a population that "have grown up being actors, initiators, creators, players and collaborators (Tapscott, 2009, p.74).
